One-sided
gland expansion joint with packing - M 14 128-525   PN 25

Application
Device to compensate changes in pipe length
from one side, caused by temperature
changes. It cannot be used for absorbing axial
forces, bending moments and twisting
moments in pipeline.
For service pressures and temperatures:

Technical description
The self lubricating expansion joint cosists of
body, guide basket and piston. Piston has two
guiding rings, one in body guide, second in
guide basket. This design secures that
functional part of the piston is not in contact
with other part of expansion joint during
stroke (except for gland packing) therefore
this part of piston and gland packing cannot be
mechanically damaged. Rubber packing (or
packing cord), thrust ring, guide ring and
stuffing box flange are in gland packing area
of the body. Self lubrication is provided by a
differential grease gun. Without the gun the
expansion joint must not be operating.
Connecting and face-to-face dimensions
Butt-weld end dimensions are given in the
table below.

Material
Body cast steel
Welded body end carbon steel
Piston carbon steel
Guide basket grey cast iron
Functional piston surface
anticorrosive finish

Testing
Strength and impermeability of the joint is
tested as per DIN 3230-3, ČSN 13 3060, part
two.

Installation
Axial forces of pipeline must be fixed outside
the expansion joint. Pipeline during
compensation must travel horizontally in
accordance with axis of the expansion joint.
Installation must not allow piston to stick in
its guide. For the purpose of easy installation,
expansion joints from DN 400 and up are
modified for optical alignment of the
expansion joint axis.
Operation
Self-acting within the allowable contraction
(expansion) of the expansion joint.

Operation
Self-acting the allowable contraction (expansion) of the expansion joint
